Cappuccino is one of the most beloved beverages, both in Italy and abroad, especially for breakfast.
It is possible to prepare it at home if you have an espresso machine equipped with a steam wand.
To make a great cappuccino, it is essential to start with a good espresso and high-quality milk, preferably fresh and full-fat.
The first step is to froth the milk by pouring it into a jug of the appropriate size, depending on the number of cappuccinos you want to prepare.
HOW TO PREPARE IT?
To froth the milk properly, there are six basic rules to follow:
1. Use full-fat milk!
2. Keep the steam wand perpendicular to the machine.
3. Place the spout of the milk jug against the steam wand.
4. Tilt the milk jug at an angle of about 45 degrees in relation to the steam wand.
5. Submerge only the tip of the steam wand (0.5 cm) into the milk.
6. Bring the milk up to 1 cm from the edge while keeping the steam wand at 0.5 cm in the milk. As the steam is released, the milk will start swirling, incorporating air and increasing in volume.
After preparing the espresso, it is important to mix the frothed part of the milk with the remaining liquid and then gently pour it over the coffee crema while tilting the cup.
NB: After making the cappuccino, clean the steam wand to prevent milk residues from hardening.
